American Idol Community

In what was a star studded event that would make the Oscars, Grammys and MTV awards jealous. An Idol was crowned amongst an gratuitous party of  Celebrity & Idol singers singing to an audience of Celebrities mixed with ex idols, and Idol families and lucky civilians.

In what was the final episode of a reality TV show, Idol proved its power as star after star enetertained with Idols. Green Day, Bette Midler, Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight, Joe Perry and so many more played their music with Idols. While Chris Daughtry rules the music this world it is almost an irony that a 4th placer is this years music legend.  

Why?

Because despite what was longtime viewers consider a lackluster season was still a TV blockbuster, breaking viewing records along the way.

In an era of the recording industry suing script kiddies for downloading illegally, Idol is a powerful new medium in and of itself.

Able to create its own market while the industry wanes and dies of its own  scarcity mentality. Afraid of new technologies.

Idol however, has become an institution. Making its own loyal marketplace, controlling its own destiny and creating its own Platitunum stars and its own built in audience. ie buyers. But also clearly attracting stars to its show.

The show ended with a celebration of its own, while past Idols and top tens sang to the Beatles in an almost gratutitous crowning to itself as the savior of the music industry.

There is a reason these stars like Joe Parry would want to play guitar for a bunch of "unknowns'.

Oh Yah, Jordin winning was more of an addition to the power team, than a singular winner of a solo award. It was clear she joined something that has become as Americana as Coke. Which sponsors Idol by the way.
